Munsiyari

Overview:

Munsiyari is a hill locked town in the state of Uttarakhand, falling under the tehsil of the Pithoragarh District. The town rests at the foothills of the great cascading Himalayan mountain range, at the ingress of the Johar Valley, andlying along the flow path of river Goriganga and extending to the Milam Glacier (source of river Goriganga). It is also considered that the great Himalayan town once formed the part of ancient salt route making the entry through the Tibet.

Best Time to Visit Munsiyari :

It is pleasant in the months of March to June and mid-September to October and November are considered ideal for visiting Munsiyari. During these months, it is great to set the feet on trekking in the nearby mountain ranges. November is time when the winters are knocking the door around. In December and January, the temperatures dip quite drastically and there is heavy snow fall too. It is the time to carnival in tranquility by sitting before the fireplace and enjoying your stay.

How to Reach :

The tourists can reach Munsiyari via road from Delhi following NH 24. The hill town is around 650 kms. from Delhi and approximately 260 kms. from Kathgodam Railway station. Munsiyari is approximately 290 kms. from Nainital.
