Overview:
When it comes to trekking, Uttarakhand hill stations are undoubtedly the best in the country. One of many such verdant hill stations, Kasuani also attracts trekkers and nature lovers from all over the world. Located 53 kilometers from Almora (another hilly town in Uttarakhand), Kasuani is a picturesque canvas of green hills and winding pathways that offer a full view of several Himalayan peaks. Nanda Devi, Trisul and Panchchuli- these peaks are visible from this serene settling strewn with pine woods all over. The vast tea gardens around and the tall pine trees call for a contrasting sight but this unusual combination is probably the most amazing one.
Tourist Attaractions and Perfect Time:
Although the place is visited by tourists all round the year, July to mid September is the ideal time to cool off in the soothing weather at Kasuani. However, the December to mid February months see heavy snowfall in the area that also attracts a sizeable number of tourists every year. Apart from this natural charm of the place, Kasuani houses many important tourist interests including "Anashakti Ashram" and Pant Museum. The former one was Mahatma Gandhi's chosen shelter when he visited Kasuani. Similarly, the Pant Museum is the birth place of famous Hindi poet Sumitranandan Pant.
But, spending a vacation at Kasuani usually means simply roaming around and enjoying the beauty of the vicinity. Otherwise, there are many temples having historical as well as archeological importance in and around Kasuani. Most of the time, this place is visited as a part of an overall tour covering Almora, Ranikhet and Binsar. Bageshwar is another famous pilgrimage center near Kasauni. There are many places of importance in Bageshwar too. The Baijnath temple and Bagnath temples are the major attraction of the place.
Like any other small hill town Kasuani is also strewn with roadside tea stalls and dhabas. A sip of hot tea on a cold day at the Kumaon hills can do wonders to a holidaying soul.
How to Reach :
The easy accessibility of the place has added tourism index in the place over the years and it is also considered as one of the popular weekend gateways from the capital city of Delhi. Kasauni is well connected through all means of transportation with the nearest airport being Pantnagar, approximately 180 kilometers away. Kathgodam is the nearest railway station at a distance of 142 kilometers.
